How to Draw With a Supra Pencil
Supra, or Supracolor pencils, are watercolor pencils made by the Caran d'Ache company. Unlike graphite pencils, Supracolors have pigment suspended in a water-soluble base, similar to watercolor paint. Supracolor pencils can be used wet or dry, but require a different technique than other colored pencils to achieve the look that you want. Using watercolor pencils, as opposed to watercolor paint, gives you a greater control over the way the color is distributed on the page.

1
Practice different techniques before beginning your drawing. Because there are so many ways to use Supracolor pencils, you must be familiar with how they work to achieve the result you desire.
-
2
Draw with the Supracolor pencil dry to give your image a more concentrated, controlled look. You can also use the dry Supra pencil to draw details on an image you created using a wet method, once the paper and pencil work has dried.

3
Blend adjacent dry markings by applying a small amount of water to the border between the colors; using a paintbrush to blend them together.
-
4
Dampen the paper before beginning your drawing. When you apply color with the Supra pencil to wet paper it will create a bleeding look that is more characteristic of watercolor painting.
-
5
Dip the pencil in a small dish of water before applying it to the paper. This will give the portion of your image you draw using this method a more opaque look.
-
6
Use a damp sponge to create different textural effects on the colors you have already applied to the paper. Place the sponge between two colors to make them bleed together in an interesting pattern.
