Organize your photos on your computer using Picasa.

Picasa is a free program from Google that helps you organize the photos on your computer. Picasa automatically sorts through your photos, and, in addition to keeping your photos neat and organized, you can use Picasa to apply some quick edits to your photo collection. Picasa is an easy-to-use program that will take care of the sorting process for you.

Instructions

      Download and run the Picasa installer at http://picasa.google.com/.

      Run Picasa. This launches the Picasa welcome screen. Select either "Only search My Documents, My Pictures, and the Desktop" to add photos those folders. Select "Search my whole computer for pictures" to add all the photos on your computer. Click "Continue."

      Select which type of files you would like to view using Picasa Photo Viewer. If you don't want to use the Picasa Photo Viewer, select "Don't use Picasa Photo Viewer." Click "Finish."

      Click one of the folders on the left side of the Picasa window. Picasa automatically organizes your pictures into different folders.

      Double-click a photo to get a larger view.

      Click the "Basic Fixes" tab on the left side of the screen. The "Basic Fixes" tab has a number of quick, easy edits that you can apply to your photos. You can remove red eye, crop the images, adjust contrast and color, among other options.

      Click the "Tuning" tab on the left side of the screen. The "Tuning" tab has a number of image option adjustments for your photos, such as changing shadows and color temperature.

      Click the "Effects" tab on the left side of the screen. In the "Effects" tab, you can add layers to your photos, such as sepia tone, black and white, or film grain.

      Open the "File" menu. Click "Save" to save the edits you made to your photo.

      Click the "Back to Library" button in the top left-hand corner of the screen to return to your photo library.
