How to Mount a Speaker to a Tripod

Tripods were designed to hold the object on top steady.

Mounting a speaker using a tripod can be useful for concerts and presentations in which the speakers are better positioned off the ground. A camera tripod is not designed for speakers; still, with some modifications, you can make the speaker fit on the tripod by attaching it directly to the tripod or placing it on a platform attached to the tripod. If you attach the speaker to the tripod, you will need to drill a hole in it.

Instructions

1. Drill half an inch into the center of the bottom of the speaker using a drill bit the size of the tripod screw. Screw the tripod screw into the speaker. The tripod connects via a screw that is designed to fit into the bottom connector of a camera. This screw can also fit into a speaker, if a hole is made for it.

2. Measure the bottom area of the speaker. If the speaker is to remain undamaged, you will need to create a platform on which it can rest.

3. Cut out a platform the size of the bottom of the speaker from a piece of wood that is approximately half an inch to one inch thick, using the jigsaw. The platform can be slightly larger than the bottom of the speaker.

4. Drill a hole into the center bottom of the wood using a drill bit of the same size as the tripod screw.

5. Screw the wood onto the tripod.

6. Place the speaker on the wood platform.
