How to Use Recyclable Objects in Projects

Using recyclable objects in your project is an effective way to save money and complete your project with an environmentally conscious spirit. With a little creativity you can identify what types of recyclable materials would work best in your project, and what the best means are for obtaining them. Whether you are undertaking projects on your house or for work or school, recyclable objects will allow you to achieve the end result you are after.

• Recyclable materials
• Gloves
• Hot water
• Soap
• Rags

Instructions

1. Draw a blueprint or design of your project. Identify the various materials or objects that you need to complete the project successfully.

2. Make a list of the items you need that can be replaced with recyclable objects. For instance, if part of your project calls for cardboard, you can add cardboard to your list of recyclable materials. If you need aluminum siding for your project, this could potentially be replaced with aluminum cans you collect and attach together. Be creative to come up with recyclable alternatives.

3. Look through used items to get ideas for objects that can be reused for your project. You might want to go through the trash or recycle bin -- wearing gloves -- to uncover items of potential use, such as glass jars, old clothes, piping or wood.

4. Clean the recyclable objects you wish to use in your project with hot water and soap, especially if the items once contained foods or beverages. Glass jars or aluminum cans should be rinsed out, clothes should be washed and piping and wood can be wiped down with rags.

5. Test out your project for completeness. Make sure that the recyclable objects work effectively for your desired outcomes.
