How to Get the "Play" Button on Tumblr

Tumblr offers several streamlined types of blog posts, catered to different types of media. For example, a video post allows the user to share a link to a YouTube, Vimeo or other streaming video by embedding it directly into the post, without requiring the user to manually embed the video's code. For a post with an audio file, Tumblr automatically generates a streaming version of the file, which is displayed as a black bar with a "Play" button for users who visit the page.

Instructions

1. Log into your Tumblr account.

2. Click the "Audio" tab on your dashboard (tumblr.com/new/audio).

3. Click the "Upload" button to upload a track from your hard drive. You can also select the "Search" tab to browse Soundcloud for available songs, or paste a direct link to an MP3 file hosted elsewhere on the Web.

4. Enter a description for the post, or leave the field blank to simply post the music. Click "Create Post." The post will appear on your Tumblr page as a black bar with a "Play" button. Click the button to listen to the file.
