How to Hang a Drill on a Brick or Mortar Flag
A workshop, garage or utility room with brick or flagstone walls poses some problems when trying to hang things. Tacks, nails or wood screws won't do. Affixing items to masonry requires a stronger drill bit and wall anchors, which will firmly grip the threads of inserted screws. Anchors will hold screws inside of brick, stone or the mortar in between. Hang tools using heavy-duty wall hooks designed for tools, bicycles and storage of other large or heavy items. For a drill, use two screw hooks. Use anchors with diameters that the screw threads of the hooks fit into. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Hold the drill on the wall in the desired hanging location. Place the drill flat on the wall with the chuck pointing to one side and the handle pointing down. For rustic flagstone walls with stones that protrude unevenly, find the flattest area possible.
-
2
Make a mark for the first hook at the corner where the bottom of the butt of the drill meets the handle, using a wax pencil or chalk. Make a mark for the second hook under the nose of the drill, just in front of the trigger.

3
Drill holes at the marked spots. Equip the drill with a masonry drill bit. Use a drill bit with a slightly smaller diameter than the anchors' diameter. Drill the holes slightly deeper than the length of the anchors.
-
4
Tap the anchors into the holes with a hammer.
-
5
Twist the hooks into the anchors by hand. Turn the entire threaded parts of the hooks' screws into the anchors. Leave the hooks with the points facing up.
-
6
Hang the drill on the hooks, with the butt nested in one hook and the nose in the other.
