Twitter, the micro-blogging service, can help you spread the news about everything from what you saw on your walk to work to the latest economic indicators. To monitor your tweets, how many there are and how many times they've been shared, there are a few tricks and tools you should know about.

      Log in to your Twitter account. At the top of the right-hand panel of the Home page, you'll see a counter, labeled "Your Tweets," that keeps track of each tweet you make. Click on the "Your Tweets" link to open a page that displays both your tweet counter and tweets, latest ones first.

      Count tweets by their specific hashtag (key word) with sites like GigaTweet. Navigate to GigaTweet (See Resources) and type the key word or phrase you want to track into the search box to see the number of tweets per minute featuring that hashtag, with a live stream of those tweets below.

      Use Countingtweets.com to count how many times a link has been tweeted. Navigate to the site (See Resources) and insert a URL into the search box. The service will display the page you requested with additional labels next to each link that indicate the number of times it has been tweeted.
