How to Get a Gold Wing On & Off a Trailer
Honda Gold Wings are the quintessential touring motorcycle for many enthusiasts. First introduced in 1975, the Gold Wing was initially powered by a flat four-cylinder engine. As the Gold Wing evolved over the years, it transitioned into a larger, full-fairing motorcycle powered by a flat six-cylinder engine. Designed for ultra long-distance touring with optimal comfort in mind, the Gold Wing became larger and heavier over the years. Many Gold Wing owners may require the ability to trailer and tow the motorcycle. Like all motorcycles, the Gold Wing can be put on a trailer and secured for towing to your desired location.

Loading a Gold Wing onto a Trailer
-
1
Drive the Gold Wing up the ramp if you have a motorcycle trailer with metal channels to align the wheels. If loading it onto a standard trailer, put two strong individuals on either side of the motorcycle to walk it up the ramp onto the trailer. Drive the Gold Wing up slowly, if desired.
-
2
Engage the side stand once your motorcycle is on the trailer. This will allow you to get off the motorcycle and position it. If your trailer has a front-wheel chock, lock the front tire into it.

3
Attach a tie-down strap hook to the top of the right fork on the front of the motorcycle. Slowly ratchet the tie-down strap so the motorcycle is lifted off the side stand until you have it close to the full upright position. Move to the left side. Attach a tie-down strap hook to the left fork and tighten it. Move from side to side, progressively tightening until the front suspension is compressed. This will prevent the hooks from being bounced off when you go over bumps on the road.
-
4
Attach tie-down strap hooks to a solid mounting point in the rear, such as the passenger peg mount. Utilize a strap on each side and progressively tighten on both sides to compress the rear suspension.
-
5
Adjust the tie-down straps so that the motorcycle is in the complete upright position. If you have a block to place behind the rear tire to prevent the motorcycle from shifting back, put it in position. Consider putting the motorcycle into first gear to prevent shifting as well.
-
6
Loosen the right side tie-down straps slowly when you wish to unload the Gold Wing. Once the motorcycle is resting on the side stand, remove the rest of the tie-down straps. Using at least two strong individuals, slowly lower the motorcycle back down the ramp, being careful to modulate the speed of the motorcycle with the brake levers.
