How to Get Traits Up in LOTRO
"Lord of the Rings Online" is a free multiplayer online role-playing game. It follows the same format as fantasy-based games such as "World of Warcraft," "Guild Wars," or "Rift." Players take control of a character and then improve the character by gaining experience, or XP. The character gradually gains traits as you increase in levels. Traits provide small or significant bonuses to your character's abilities. These improvements are easy to obtain as you play.

1
Complete quests. Quests are tasks assigned to you by computer-controlled characters. Upon completion, quests provide rewards in the form of currency, items and experience. Since traits and leveling are intertwined, completing quests eventually increases your traits.

2
Grind for experience. In video game terms, grinding is the act of going to a single area repeatedly defeating the same enemies. Since eliminating enemies provides experience, this will bring you one step closer to getting your traits up.

Participate in instances. Instances are separate areas of the game that can only be accessed as a group. When your party enters an instance, it only accommodates your team. Other groups who enter will have their own separate copy of the instance. Many quests take place in instances, and the difficulty of these places makes it very lucrative for gaining experience, and bringing your traits up as a result.

Tips & Warnings
Stick to questing whenever possible. Grinding is tedious and it does not award a lump sum of experience the way questing does. Additionally, quests often involve eliminating a certain amount of monsters, so grinding is incorporated into it. This combination of grinding and experience rewards will make it much faster to get your traits up.
