How to Make a Cell a Hyperlink

A hyperlink is an underlined or highlighted item, such as a word, phrase or image, that when clicked takes the reader to a Web page, another document or a different part of the same document. But hyperlinks are not limited to online use. For example, the spreadsheet software Microsoft Excel supports them. You can easily insert a hyperlink into an Excel cell to connect it to another page, spreadsheet or website.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the cell in which you want to insert a hyperlink.

    • 2

Click "Insert" from the top menu. Click "Hyperlink" under the "Links" category.

    • 3

Select the file or page you want to connect to from the options under "Link to." If linking to a Web page, type its URL in the "Address" field. Click "OK" to create the hyperlink.
