How to Remove Shiny in GIMP
GIMP is a free, downloadable image-editing application with enough tools to add nearly any characteristic that you want to your image. Many of the more exciting effects are achieved through the use of the "Filters" menu accessible from the top of the window. After applying an effect to your image, such as one that appears to make an image "shiny," you might decide that you no longer like the effect. Fortunately, GIMP includes a feature that allows you to remove effects after they have been applied.

Tips & Warnings
You can only remove effects from an image if that image has remained open. Once an image is saved or closed, the history for that image will no longer be accessible.
