How to Tank the Northrend Beasts in "World of Warcraft"
The "Northrend Beasts" are the first encounter in the "Wrath of the Lich King" raid instance, "Trial of the Crusader" and the heroic version "Trial of the Grand Crusader." At Level 85, the normal version of the raid is extremely easy with a full group and tactics are not really necessary. However, the heroic modes are still relatively difficult and may still require players to pay attention to the tactics that raids used back at Level 80, which the content was designed for.

Start the encounter by talking to the NPC by the entrance. You will need two tanks for this fight. Get into position at the door opposite the entrance, facing the entrance.

2
Tank and kill Gormok the Impaler, the first phase of this encounter. You will notice that you get a stacking debuff called Impale when you have 100 percent threat on the boss. You should not let this stack more than three times, and the two tanks need to swap every time the debuff stacks three times. Other than that, the fight is very simple to tank.

Fight Dreadscale and Acidmaw, the next phase of the fight. The two giant worms will appear and each tank will need to take one. Whichever one you tank, there is little in the way of tactics, although you do need to make sure that your target is facing away from the raid. It can also be helpful to mark the worms using the raid markers, since it will be easier to see them when they burrow underground. The tank will need to pick up its target again as soon as it emerges. Normally Acidmaw is killed first, followed by Dreadscale.

The final phase of the fight is the encounter with the giant yeti Icehowl. In spite of being the last phase of the fight, it is considered by many to be the easiest. As far as tanking it is concerned, the boss can be tanked normally. However, when the yeti is about to charge a certain location, you need to run away very quickly. You will know what to do when you get a buff which allows you to run faster and you see the yeti facing an area of the wall, about to charge. When Icehowl charges, he should run straight into the wall and not one of the raid members. When this happens, the yeti will be stunned and take a lot more damage for a short period of time. The tank should also damage the boss as much as possible. Feral druids should go in cat form for this.
