How to Make YouTube Songs for Your Ringtone
YouTube has millions of music videos and soundtracks. Users from all over the world upload videos that often contain songs not heard on the radio or available in music stores. If you find a YouTube video that has a tune that you like embedded in the clip, you can save the music by extracting it as an MP3 file, then send the file to your cellphone or smartphone and use it as a ringtone.

Extract Audio From Videos

Go to the YouTube.com site and find a video that contains music you want to use as a ringtone. Highlight the URL of the Web page in the address bar of your browser, then press the "Ctrl" and "C" keys simultaneously to copy the URL.

Browse to a website that lets you extract the audio portion of YouTube videos and save it your computer as an MP3 file. Options include free websites such as GetAudioFromVideo.com, YouTubeToMP3.com and BenderConverter.com.

Position the mouse cursor in the in the "URL," "Video URL" or similar field on the video converter website. Press the "Ctrl" and "V" keys simultaneously to paste the YouTube video URL.

Click the "MP3" option as the output format. Some of the sites offer additional output format choices, but select MP3 as it is most compatible with most cellphones and smartphones.

Click the "Convert" or "Download" button or link on the converter site. Wait a few minutes for the site to import the YouTube video file and convert the audio into the MP3 format. Save the converted MP3 file to a folder on your computer when prompted.
Transfer the Audio File to Your Phone

Connect the USB data cable to the phone and a USB port on the computer. Wait a few seconds for Windows to detect the connection and configure the memory card in the phone as an external storage device. Windows displays a small confirmation message at the bottom of the screen when the process is complete.

Click "Start," then "Computer." Navigate to the folder where you saved the converted MP3 file. Highlight the file, then press "Ctrl" and "C" at the same time.

Navigate to the main Explorer window, the one that displays the drives installed in your PC. Double-click the driver letter assigned by Windows for the memory device inside the phone.

Double-click the "Media," "Music" or other similarly named subfolder on the phone's memory card. Press the "Ctrl" and "C" keys at the same time to copy the MP3 file to the phone.

Disconnect the data cable from the phone and the computer. Use the menu keys on your phone to change the ringtone to the MP3 file you transferred from the computer. If you are unsure of how to change the ringtone, refer to the user's guide for your phone.
