How to Shave Closer With a Rotary Electric Shaver
Rotary electric razors use a set of spinning blades, underneath a screen to protect the skin, to cut the hairs of the shaver. Although many feel that with the screen on an electric razor, it is not possible to get a shave as close as using a razor blade. Although the sharp blades of the razor actually remove a microscopic layer of skin with the hair making the two perfectly flush, with proper care you can have an equally close shave with your electric razor. Replace the blades and screen in your razor annually to combat dulling.

Clean the skin with soapy water before shaving.

Apply lotion to your skin prior to shaving to moisturize and avoid irritation.

Pull your skin being shaved in the direction of the grain.

Move the razor in circular motions as you cut.

Slide the circles being made in the direction opposite the grain.

Remove the cap of the razor after shaving. Brush the blades and both the inside and outside of the screens to clean the razors with a razor brush. You should clean your razor after every third shave, at minimum, though daily cleaning is ideal. A clean razor will cut closer.
