How to Draw Spirit Dragons
Draw the essence and body of the magical entities known as spirit dragons. Spirit dragons often appear in fantasy art and literature, and inhabit the spirits of humans. They have a manifested form that looks like a dragon, and a spiritual essence form which is depicted as an orb of energy. The ability to draw dragons and spheres are the only requirements for depicting them in drawings. Drawing spirit dragons will add a magical element to any fantasy story or art.

1
Look at some dragon pictures for reference and find the line of motion, or spine. In your own drawing, sketch a line to represent this, curving it in the same manner as it looks in the reference. It can usually be drawn as "u" shape pulled downwards to one side. Add two circles on one arm of the "u" shape. These will be the largest and represent the body. Add a smaller circle on the other arm of the "u" to represent the head. Draw lines for the legs and tail, and extend them off the body circles in the appropriate places. Make more lines coming off the back in an arm-like fashion to create wings.

Make the stick figure dragon three dimensional by drawing cylinders over it. The cylinders can be used for the legs, neck, and tail. Now look at the dragon reference again, and study the outlines of the dragon. Draw your own outlines over the three dimensional body that adhere to what you see.

Change your fully-drawn dragon into a spirit dragon by erasing out certain parts of the anatomy. The head could be floating in space with only the wings visible behind. Draw curved and jagged lines to depict energy. How you choose to depict the spirit dragon's manifested form is up to you. Draw a sphere if you wish to draw a spirit dragon's essence.
