Instructions for Astak Surveillance Cameras

The IP-700 Astek security camera is a Web-based camera that operates independently of a computer. It connects wirelessly to a home network so that the video being streamed can be watched from any computer's Web browser. The instructions that accompany the IP-700 provide the needed procedure for setting up the camera. You do not need any special equipment in order to make the IP-700 functional.

Things You'll Need

  • Wireless home network
  • Tripod
  • Ethernet cable, 30 feet
  • Router
  • Instruction manual
  • Decide on the location in your home or office that is to be monitored by the Astak IP-700 security camera. Stand the camera on a surface so that the lens is facing in the direction of the area to be monitored; alternately you can screw the bottom of the camera into a tripod and stand the tripod so that it faces the area.

  • Screw the Wi-Fi antenna onto the antenna socket on the back end of the camera. Insert an end of an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the back of the camera.

  • Plug the power supply's power cord into the power port on the back of the camera. Insert the plug at the other end of the power supply into a wall outlet.

  • Run the Ethernet cable over to the router that is a part of your wireless home network. Insert the end of the Ethernet cable into an open port on the back of the router.

  • Launch your Web browser by selecting it from the "All Applications" menu, after having clicked "Start," Enter the Astak website into the address bar at the top of the Web browser and press "Return.

  • Click on the "Sign Up" link on the Web page that appears. Follow the menu prompts to register the camera and create an account for yourself with Astak; the information needed for the camera registration can be found in the instruction manual as well as on the information plate that is on the camera.

  • Let the automatic detection procedure bring up a web page that pertains to the IP-700. Click on the icon of the camera that is at the left of the Web page. Click "OK" in the default login screen when it appears.

  • Click the "Advanced" tab on the web page that appears. Click on "Wireless Settings" that is on the Web page. Click the "Search" icon on the page.

  • Select your network from the list that appears. Enter your network password in the appropriate text field. Click the "Apply" button. Remove the Ethernet cable from the IP-700 camera and from the router.
