How to Decorate Your Pictures & Blur the Edges With Color

Decorating an image or picture file with blurred edges is done by adding a border. To easily do this you need to use an image manipulation program. A free and easy to use program you can install on any type of operating system is Gimp which is available for Linux, the Mac OS and Windows. You can add a blurring effect to pictures and images once the program has been installed.

Instructions

    • 1

Double-click the "Gimp" icon to open the program. Click on "File" and select "Open." Navigate to the location of the image file on your system. Click "Open" to load the image in the program.

    • 2

Click the "Filters" drop down menu and highlight the option for "Decor." Select the option for "Fuzzy Border" to display a dialog box.

    • 3

Click on the "Color" button to select a color to use for the border. Select the color from the selector box that appears on the screen.

    • 4

Adjust the border size by clicking the "Up" or "Down" arrow buttons. The larger the number, the bigger the border appears on the image.

    • 5

Put a check in the "Blur Border" box to apply a blur affect to the border.

    • 6

Click the "File" drop down and select the option for "Save" to save the image.
