How to Insert a Sample Delay in Cubase

Cubase is sequencing software designed to handle creating and editing music and audio. Using a delay effect in Cubase provides an effect similar to an echo where the sound echoes one or more times after you initially play it. Cubase provides multiple methods of adding effects to either sampled instruments or audio tracks, but the most direct way to create a delay effect is to add it as an insert in a single track.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the Cubase project and click to select the track to which you would like to add the delay effect.

    • 2

Click the "Inserts" tab in the left column of the interface. This will expand the Inserts section to show the available slots for insert effects.

    • 3

Click the black space in one of the available slots and choose "Delay," then choose one of the delay effects. This will insert the delay effect into the track and open its interface window.

    • 4

Click the text box at the top of the window to choose a preset for the effect or use the knobs and faders in the window to adjust the settings manually. Play back the audio and continue tweaking settings until you find a setting that you like.
