How to Make Masks of Caulk
Homemade masks are made from materials such as paper, leather, clay and caulk. A mask form speeds the process up dramatically when creating a mask at home. The mask form is made from plastic with a slick surface that allows the applied material to release from the mold when dried. Mask forms are available in many hobby and craft stores in different sizes and shapes. Applying caulk to the surface of a mask form creates a mask that is fun to wear and easy to decorate.

1
Spread the newspaper over a flat work surface. Place the mask form on the newspaper so the back side of the form is up. Crumple sheets of newspaper into small balls snd tape them over the mask form's eye, nose and mouth openings. Make sure the newspaper balls are secured tightly.

2
Remove the elastic band or ties from the mask. Slide the small clips on the end of the elastic band through the holes in the mask. Flip the mask over.

3
Put on a pair of vinyl disposable gloves. Cut the tip from the caulk tube at a 33- to 35-degree angle.

4
Squeeze the caulk onto the plastic mask form using a large bead of caulk that's about the width of a snail. Begin at the point of the mask form's nose and work to the outside edge a row at a time, until the mask form is completely covered with caulk.

5
Dip the fingers of your dominant hand in the water. Carefully smooth the grooves between the caulk. Repeat the process until the caulk-covered mask form is completely smooth.
-
6
Allow the caulk to dry 24 hours before removing from the mask mold.
