How to Install a Dell Flat Screen

The Dell computer company sells PCs and computer peripherals, including flat screen monitors. These monitors use liquid crystal display technology to create images, saving space and allowing for the thin, flat shape. The installation process for a Dell flat screen monitor is relativity simple because the computer does not need any hardware drivers or other programs to recognize it. Although the exact installation process can vary by model, the basic procedure is the same.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the monitor stand flat on the desk. Grab each side of the monitor and guide the hooks on the back of it down onto the slots on the monitor stand. When the monitor will not slide any further down, gently press it against the stand. It will click when it is locked in place.

Connect the blue video cable, called the VGA cable, to the monitor and the video card connector on the back of your computer. Use you fingers to tighten the two screws on the VGA cable connector.

    • 3

Connect the black power cable to the monitor and plug it into a wall outlet or a surge protector.

    • 4

Turn on the monitor. It will display a red, green, blue and white patten in the middle of the screen. If it doesn't, check the power cord to make sure it is firmly in the monitor and the electrical plug.

    • 5

Turn on your computer. If you do not see the start up screen once your computer loads, check the video cable to ensure it is securely connected.
