How to Polish Zildjian Titanium

Zildjian titanium cymbals have a brilliant finish that gives them a polished silver look as well as a unique tone. The titanium sounds much brighter than standard bronze cymbals. When a normal bronze cymbal becomes tarnished and dirty it can be cleaned using a cymbal cleaner that is essentially a bronze cleaner. Unfortunately this cleaner would damage the titanium finish; a plain wash with soap and water is recommended to avoid ruining the titanium cymbal.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a bucket with warm soapy water. The soap will help break down any of the oils and dirt left on your titanium cymbal by your fingers.

    • 2

Place the titanium cymbal on a towel.

    • 3

Scrub both sides of the cymbal using a rag and the soapy water.

    • 4

Run a rag under warm water and use this to wipe away any excess soapy water from the cymbal. If soap is allowed to dry on the cymbal it could ruin the finish.

    • 5

Dry the titanium cymbal with a towel and place it back in its storage bag or on your drum set.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not use standard cymbal cleaner on a Zildjian titanium cymbal. It will ruin the finish.
