Tasty and delicious, drumsticks are one of the most popular cuts of poultry. Cheap and versatile, they can be prepared in a variety of ways. Covered in freshly made breadcrumbs and baked in the oven or deep fried, drumsticks make a quick and easy meal for your family and friends. Breadcrumbs can be made form any type of dry bread, and a mixture of different types can create some interesting flavors. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 8 chicken drumsticks
  • 2 slices dry bread
  • Food processor
  • 1/4 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp. dry, mixed herbs
  • 2 bowls
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tbs. milk
  • Baking tray
  • Deep fat fryer and oil

Instructions

      Preheat an oven to 425 degrees F.

      Prepare the breadcrumbs by cutting off the crusts and tearing the bread into small pieces. Place the bread into a food processor and blend for a few seconds until small crumbs are produced.

      Add the onion powder and herbs to the crumbs, mix well and pour into a bowl to coat the drumsticks.

      Put the egg white and milk into another bowl and whisk it gently with a fork.

      Wash and pat dry the drumsticks, then remove any excess fat or skin if necessary.

      Dip each drumstick into the egg and milk mixture, covering them completely. Remove the drumsticks from the mixture and gently shake a few times to remove any excess. Place the drumstick into the breadcrumb mixture and turn to ensure it is well covered with the mixture.

      Place the drumsticks on a baking tray and bake in the oven for approximately 45 minutes, or deep fry them until they are golden brown.

Tips & Warnings

  • Experiment with different flavors for the crumb mix. Replace the onion powder and herbs with 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese.
