How to Crosshatch a Quilt
Of all the quilt motifs and designs you can choose, the crosshatch pattern is among the simplest. This design is a series of squares set on point and you can create it without even having to use a fabric marking pencil. Quilt diagonal lines in one direction, then turn and quilt the same number of lines in the opposite direction. The resulting shapes create a pleasing uniform look to your finished quilt design.
Things You'll Need

1
Stick a piece of masking tape on the surface of the quilt, with one tape edge running exactly from one corner to the opposite diagonal corner.
-
2
Place the taped quilt into a quilting hoop and quilt just outside the edge of both sides of the tape. You will have two parallel lines that run across the surface of the quilt in a diagonal direction.

-
3
Remove the tape when both lines are finished. Move the tape outward one space by lining up the inner edge with the outer of the two quilted lines.
-
4
Quilt along the outside edge of the tape again. Continue moving the tape and using it as a quilt marker to create lines across the entire surface of the quilt to the corner.
-
5
Stick the tape onto the opposite side of the original center line and use it to create lines to fill in the other half of the quilt.
-
6
Stick the tape across the other two diagonal corners and repeat the process to create a new series of lines going in the opposite direction. Fill in the entire quilt surface from the center to the corners.
