How to Roll Up Your Du Rag
A du rag is a piece of fabric worn on the head for a variety of reasons, including protecting a hair style and keeping sweat out of the eyes. The du rag, which is short for "hairdoo rag," according to Urban Dictionary, originated in prisons in the 1970s. Today, people from every walk of life wear du rags, although it is still primarily an African American fashion accessory. New York City courts have even upheld individuals' rights to wear du rags at work, over protests from employers. Rolling up your du rag before putting it on your head will keep it looking fresh and stylish. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Lay out the du rag on a flat surface. If your du rag is wrinkled or has creases, consider ironing it with a steam iron before moving on to the next step.
-
2
Grab the top right-hand corner of the du rag with your hand and fold it so it meets the bottom left corner. The du rag should resemble a triangle, with two short sides and one longer side.
-
-
3
Press the triangle-shaped du rag, using an iron. Make the long fold especially sharp, going over it several times with the iron.
-
4
Grasp the top of the triangle in your hands and fold it over 3 inches, making a rectangle. Continue to fold the du rag down, rolling down the already folded material to create a new rectangle below the existing one. Each fold should be approximately 3 inches wide. Repeat the process until you reach the end of the du rag.

5
Iron the rolled-up du rag to keep the creases crisp and in place. An ironed du rag will keep its shape and look better for a longer period of time.
