How to Report the Abuse of a Disabled Person in New Jersey
Adult Protective Services is a New Jersey state program created to protect the rights of vulnerable adults. Ill or disabled adults are more susceptible to being mistreated by family members or caregivers who may take advantage of the situation. Vulnerable adults may be physically or emotionally abused, financially exploited, neglected or abandoned. If you suspect that someone afflicted with a physical or mental disability is being mistreated or taken advantage of, file a report with Adult Protective Services for further investigation.
