How to Unlock a Mini Padlock

Mini padlocks fit through the links of a chain to secure items.

Mini padlocks are smaller than standard-sized padlocks and are generally purchased in sets of two or three. Each mini padlock in a set has the same combination so you can lock multiple items and only need to remember one combination. Standard-sized padlocks have shackles on top that may be too large to insert in a chain to secure a bicycle or on a suitcase to add security. Combination mini padlocks open in the same manner as standard sizes.

Things You'll Need

• Mini padlock combination
• Mini padlock key

Instructions

1. Grasp the dial on the front of the mini padlock. Turn the dial three revolutions to the right and stop when the pointer at the top of the lock is aligned with the first number in the combination.

2. Turn the dial left and pass the first combination number. Stop turning the dial when the second number in the combination is aligned with the top pointer.

3. Turn the dial right and stop when the third number of the combination is aligned with the pointer at the top of the lock.

4. Grasp the lock body and pull it firmly down. The shackle will release from the lock body. Unhook the shackles from the item secured with the padlock.

Tips & Warnings

• Turning the dial three times to the right at the beginning of this sequence clears the locking mechanism.

• Open a keyed mini padlock by inserting and turning the key clockwise. Then pull the padlock body down and remove the shackle from the locked item.
