How to Get Listed on Linkedin's Service Provider Directory

With a free LinkedIn account, you can meet and connect with professionals around the world. You can also market yourself as a Service Provider, which gives you free advertising to millions of people who may use your services. To be listed as a Service Provider, all you need are six recommendations from LinkedIn contacts who have used your service.

      Open your LinkedIn profile.

      Click the "Ask for Recommendations" link on the right side of the page to open the Request Recommendations page.

      Select the position that you want a recommendation for from the drop-down list. The list contains all of the positions you have listed on your profile.

      List the connections that you want to request a recommendation from in the "Your Connections" field. You can list up to 200 contacts.

      Edit the message in the "Create Your Message" field. You can leave a generic default message, as well.

      Click "Send." When you receive sufficient recommendations, LinkedIn will add you to the Service Provider directory.
