How to Remove Black Side Bars in a YouTube Video

A YouTube video will contain black bars that run along both sides if it does not fully fill the widescreen dimensions that the website uses. This is especially true of older videos that you uploaded before YouTube enabled a widescreen option. You can edit your video's tags to add a code that will change the ratio aspect of your video, allowing it to fill the entire YouTube screen. This will remove the black side bars from your video.

Instructions

Left-click and highlight the following code with your mouse. Then right-click and click "Copy."

      yt:stretch=4:3 yt:crop=16:9 yt:quality=high
