How to Embed on Facebook From Scribd

With a Facebook account, you can easily share links, content, photos and videos with your Facebook friends. Unfortunately, if you want to share another kind of file, such as a Word document, a PDF or a spreadsheet, you can't upload it directly to Facebook. As an easy alternative, you can first upload your document to Scribd.com, a free online file-storage service, then connect your Scribd account to your Facebook so that Scribd can post a link to your document on your Facebook wall.

Tips & Warnings

  • Log in to Scribd with your Facebook account by clicking the blue "Login With Facebook" button in the upper right corner of the homepage. The first time you log in this way, a pop-up window appears, prompting you to authorize Scribd to connect to your Facebook account. Click "Allow"; the pop-up window closes when you successfully log in.

  • If you upload your document from a Google Docs account, you must first link your Scribd account to your Google account. Click the link in the "Import Your Google Docs" section, then click the "Grant Access" button in the pop-up window that appears to grant Scribd access to Google Docs. Click the "Import" button next to the Google Docs document you want to import onto Scribd.

  • You can also use the Scribd Desktop Uploader to upload multiple documents to Scribed in one upload. Visit scribd.com/desktop_uploader and follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the software version appropriate for your operating system. Launch the Uploader once you successfully install it, then check the boxes next to the documents on your hard drive that you want to upload. Add descriptions, titles, tags and categories to all your documents, then click the blue "Upload" button.
