Queen Elizabeth II has received more than 3 million items of correspondence during her reign. Make your letter to The Queen or other monarchs stand out and be taken seriously by addressing it in a formal, traditional style. There is always a chance she will respond to you.

      Address the envelope. Write:

      Her Majesty

      The Queen of (country's full name)

      (address)

      For Queen Elizabeth, address it to:

      Her Majesty The Queen

      Write the opening salutation on your letter. "Your Majesty:" is appropriate. For Queen Elizabeth, open with "Madam" (no punctuation).

      Close the letter with "Yours sincerely" or "Yours faithfully" and include your full name and address to make it easier for her to reply. For Queen Elizabeth, you may end the letter with, "I have the honour to be, Madam, Your Majesty's humble and obedient servant," although this is not obligatory.
