Remove haze by wetting tiles with a sponge and a nylon scrubber.

The white haze, or efflorescence, which is left on tiles, develops from salt deposits from the grout. These deposits leave a cloudy substance that dulls the shiny tiles. Removing the haze simply involves using warm water coupled with scrubbing action. If left untreated, the salt deposits could eventually etch the tile surface. Clean the white haze from tile flooring to allow the tile's luster to shine through. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a bucket halfway with warm water. Wet a sponge and squeeze out the excess water.

    • 2

Wipe the damp sponge over a 2-foot by 2-foot section of the white haze on the tile. Moisten the area without getting it soggy.

    • 3

Scrub the tile with a nylon scrubber. Use medium force as you rub it over the surface. The nylon scrubber offers enough abrasion power without scratching the tile.

    • 4

Wipe the area with dry paper towels after scrubbing for 30 seconds. Inspect the tile for the white haze. If the haze remains, moisten the tile with the sponge and continue scrubbing, inspect every 30 seconds to one minute. If the haze has disappeared, move on to the next section of tile and repeat the process.
