How to Size Mittens
Selecting the right mitten size can be difficult if you are not used to wearing them. Imagine spending money for quality mittens only to discover that they are too tight, or too loose. It is important to measure your hand prior to going to the store. That way, you will know what size you are no matter what the manufacturer is. Sizing mittens takes less than ten minutes. Place the tape measure around your dominant hand, extending across the palm to measure your hand's circumference. Exclude your thumb in the measurement.

Measure from the base of your hand upwards to the tip of your middle finger.

Select the largest value out of the two measurements for your mitten size.

Record your hand's size on a sheet of paper.

View a mitten or glove sizing chart and search for your external width and length.

Locate the equivalent glove sizes, which conventionally translate into letters such as S (small), M (medium), and L (large).

Tips & Warnings
Measure the circumference of your dominant hand. If you are right handed, use your right hand, for example.
The number of inches or centimeters is equivalent to the glove size. A six inch circumference equals a size six glove.
