How to Get the Pinatas in "Viva Pinata"
"Viva Pinata" is a game of gardening and ecological management. Players plant flowers and vegetables and as these plants grow, they attract animate pinatas. If a pinata likes the player's garden enough, it will stay and make it its home. The game features dozens of pinata species, each with its own personality and needs. In order to get them, players must actively develop their garden to meet the pinatas' tastes.

Go to the map and select Costolots. This is the general store where you can purchase everything from gardening equipment to seeds.

Buy at least two flower seeds. It doesn't matter what type of flower you select, as Tafflies are attracted to all species.

Return to your garden. Throw the seeds on the ground. Make sure there's no garbage or other plants growing there already.

Equip the watering can and water the seeds until they get smiley faces. Within a few days they'll sprout. Do not over-water or under-water, as this can lead to slow growth and death.

Water the plants until they flower. Tafflies will be attracted to the flowers. If you have at least two blossoms in your garden and the Taffly eats at least one, then it will stick around for life.
Lickatoad

Perform gardening tasks to gain experience. Once you've reached Level 7 you'll unlock the Pond Shovel.

Equip the Pond Shovel and dig 20 square pintometers worth of pond. As a frog-like pinata, the Lickatoad needs water to survive.

Attract at least one Taffly to your garden by planting flowers. The Lickatoad will eat the Taffly and become a permanent resident.
Barkbark

Open the town map and go to the Paper Pets store. Here you can purchase special pinatas that aren't normally attracted by the garden ecosystem.

Browse through the selection of animals until you see the Barkbark. It resembles a dog.

Purchase the Barkbark for 2,310 chocolate coins. If you don't have that much money, you can earn it by nurturing seeds and selling the full grown plants at Costolots.

"Viva Pinatas" features a dynamic ecology, and in order to attract a wide range of pinatas you need to have a diverse ecosystem. This not only means planting a variety of trees, bushes, vegetables and flowers, but it also means landscaping to accommodate different species preferences. For instance, the Whirlm needs a lot of undeveloped soil to flourish, while aquatic species like the Lickatoad need ponds. Balance your terrain types to foster a truly robust ecology.
