How to Use a Webcam on AOL

AOL allows video chat with friends, family and users worldwide.

Instead of just chatting with text over AOL Instant Messenger, use a webcam to video chat. Before launching the program, install your webcam. Also install a microphone if you wish to vocally chat while on video chat. AIM allows you to set the video chat to "On" while also typing, instead of talking if you prefer. Keep in mind you can only video chat through enabling the service.

Instructions

1. Launch AIM from the desktop or start menu. Log into your AIM account with your username and password.

2. Click the name of the buddy you wish to video chat with on your buddy list to open a new instant message window.

3. Click "Options" in the top right corner.

4. Click "Start Video Chat" to share video cameras. When you are done video chatting, close the IM window.
