1
Keep the Christmas tree out of direct sunlight, away from the fireplace, and as far from the heater as possible, or else it will dry up.
-
2
Use a saw to make a perpendicular cut in the base of the tree 0.5-1 inch thick, before putting it in water.
-
-
3
Avoid putting too many lights on the Christmas tree. Overuse of lights will cause the tree to overheat, which can dry it up.
-
4
Put the tree in a spot in your home that it fits into easily. For example, don't try to shove an 8-foot Christmas tree into a 7-foot space.
-
5
Fill the tree stand with cold water, and make sure this stays filled at all times. The water should never be any warmer than room temperature.
-
6
Get a spray bottle, fill it with cold water, and spray the Christmas tree once per day, to make sure the entire tree stays hydrated. Spray it only when all lights, and anything else electrical around the tree, is unplugged.
