How to Do a Signature in an Email

Typically, most email services provide numerous customization options to help improve the way you communicate with recipients. A standard option is the use of a digital signature. This lets you embed information such as your name, your company's name and how to contact you into your outgoing messages. You can enable this option using your email service's main properties screen.

Instructions

  1. From Gmail

      Log on to your Google Gmail account. Click the main "Gear" (Settings) icon located in the upper-right corner, then select "Mail Settings" from the sub-menu displayed.

      Scroll down to the "Signature" field. Select the second radio button to enable the signature text field.

      Type the signature you wish to implement into your email messages; modify it as you wish using the available font size and color options.

      Click "Save Changes" to apply the newly-created signature.

    From Yahoo! Mail

      Log on to your Yahoo! Mail account. Click the "Options" link from the upper-right portion, followed by "More Options."

      Click the "Signature" tab from the left navigation pane.

      Enable the "Show a Signature on all Outgoing Messages" radio button.

      Select whether to use "Plain Text" or "Rich Text" from the option displayed on the upper-right portion. Rich text allows you to modify the text font, color and other attributes.

      Type the signature and other information you wish to use for your email messages, and then click "Save Changes" to apply it to your Yahoo! Mail account.

    From Hotmail

      Log on to your Hotmail/MSN email account. Click "Options" from the upper-right portion of the inbox screen, followed by "More Options."

      Click "Message Font and Signature" from the "Writing Mail" section.

      Enter the desired signature and information into the "Personal Signature" text field shown; edit it as necessary using the font options available.
