Players hit a balloon back and forth over a net or divider in this game, which is like volleyball.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Set up a net outside or tie a string between two chairs or two trees.
Step2
Designate sidelines to mark what is out of bounds.
Step3
Blow up a balloon.
Step4
Place at least one player on each side of the string or net.
Step5
Have players hit the balloon back and forth over the net without allowing the balloon to touch the ground.
Step6
Keep score if you wish (one point for your team each time the balloon hits the ground on your opponent's side) or just play for fun.
Step7
Limit the number of times the balloon may be hit to get it over the net to make the game more difficult. Three is a good number.
Step8
Challenge an older player by making him hold one hand behind his back while playing.

Tips & Warnings

  • When playing with very young children, do not use a net or divider. Just try to keep the balloon in the air for as long as possible.
  • The balloon will not travel far, so you won't need many players or a large playing area.
