How to Make Plastic With Corn Syrup
If you are looking for a delicious alternative to fondant to make edible decorations, make moldable chocolate plastic. Chocolate plastic is like modeling dough and is made from melted chocolate and corn syrup. You can use dark chocolate, milk chocolate or white chocolate to make chocolate plastic. Use the prepared dough to make flowers, figurines and realistic models. Prepare a double boiler to melt the chocolate. Simmer 2 inches of water in a wide pan and place a bowl containing the chopped chocolate over the simmering water. This arrangement allows the chocolate to melt steadily without the danger of burning or scorching.

Remove the bowl from the double boiler once the chocolate is melted. Stir it slightly so it cools down.

Add corn syrup to the melted chocolate and stir until it gets incorporated. The mixture will resemble a thick paste.

Remove the paste onto work surface dusted with cocoa powder. Use powdered sugar if making white chocolate plastic. Knead the dough gently until it is pliable. Use as desired.

Tips & Warnings
Keep chocolate plastic covered with plastic wrap to prevent drying out.
Make sure all utensils and work surfaces are grease-free to prevent breakdown of chocolate plastic.
