How to Convert WAV to GSM for Asterisk
Asterisk is an open-source software application that is used to convert a computer into a voice communications server that can be used to support telephony applications, such as IP PBX or VoIP. Launch your Web browser and navigate to Download.CNET.com and type "Switch File Converter" into the "Search" box. Click the "Download Now" link. Save the download to your desktop. Double-click the download file to install it onto your computer.

Double-click the "Switch Sound File Converter" icon to open the application. Click "Add Files." Choose the WAV file you want to convert. Click "Browse." Select the location where you want to save the WAV file after it's converted.

Click "Output Format." Choose "GSM" as the output format. Click "Convert." Click "OK" when you receive the completion message that your file has been converted. You can now use the GSM file with your Asterisk program.
