How to Convert WAV to GSM for Asterisk

Asterisk is an open-source software application that is used to convert a computer into a voice communications server that can be used to support telephony applications, such as IP PBX or VoIP. GSM are audio files compatible with the Asterisk line of applications. If you have a WAV file you want to convert to a GSM file, you can do so with the Switch Sound File Converter.

      Double-click the "Switch Sound File Converter" icon to open the application. Click "Add Files." Choose the WAV file you want to convert. Click "Browse." Select the location where you want to save the WAV file after it's converted.

      Click "Output Format." Choose "GSM" as the output format. Click "Convert." Click "OK" when you receive the completion message that your file has been converted. You can now use the GSM file with your Asterisk program.
