Instructions

    • 1

Choose the beads you will use to make your lariat. Beads come in plastic, glass, resin, metal and even recycled paper. Once you've chosen the beads you want, lay them out in the pattern you will want for your lariat.

    • 2

Place 3 or 4 beads on the end of the cord and knot them together to create a weight. Double the knot and add some glue or clear nail varnish so that it doesn't come undone.

    • 3

Tie a knot in the cord a couple of inches from the weight and place a part of your pattern of beads on the cord. Tie another knot at the back end of your pattern to keep the beads in place on the cord. Repeat this step until there are just a few inches of cord left at the other end.

    • 4

Bundle 3 or 4 beads on the other end to create a second weight.

    • 5

Tie the cord in a simple knot at an appropriate length for your outfit. Do not double the knot or add glue to it. You want to be able to adjust it later. Another option is to double your necklace on itself until the two ends are touching. Then drape the doubled necklace over your neck and place both ends through the loop on the opposite side. Tighten to your liking.
