Instructions

    • 1

Drain the pool completely to begin the tile repair. Tiles may be slippery when wet, so allow the entire surface to dry thoroughly before you attempt to walk around the pool.

    • 2

Remove the damaged tile with a chisel and hammer. Chip away at the grout lines to loosen the tile, and then pry away. Chip away any remaining cement where the tile was located to give the new tile a clean space to adhere to properly.

    • 3

Mix a small batch of cement according to the manufacturer's instructions in a mixing tub. Spread a thin layer of cement onto the surface with a notched trowel. The notches in the trowel will create grooves in the cement to allow the tiles to grip better and remove any possible air bubbles.

    • 4

Set the tile into place, and use spacers to maintain uniform grout lines. Press the tile firmly in the center to remove any possible trapped air from underneath. Trim with a pair of nippers, if necessary, to fit in the desired location.

    • 5

Allow the cement to harden for at least 12 hours after you install the new tile. Once the cement is dry, mix waterproof grout in a clean tub as directed through the manufacturer's instructions.

    • 6

Spread a layer of grout over the tiles with a rubber float. Hold the float perpendicular to the surface and swipe the grout over the tile at a 45-degree angle to fill the lines between tiles. Remove any excess grout from the tile with the float.

    • 7

Wipe remaining grout from the tile's surface using a damp sponge. Allow the grout to harden fully as directed by the manufacturer's instructions before you fill the pool with water.
