The telephone number for the credit company should be on the back of the card.

Monitoring your credit card charges prevents credit card theft, fraud and negative balances. If you place a Microsoft DM charge on your credit card, use the credit card company's online or telephone balance system to verify that the amount has been charged to your account. Wait a few days to let the charge register in the system.

Instructions

    • 1

Flip your credit card over so the signature side is facing you. You'll see a number to call to check your balance. Your credit card company will not charge you for the call.

Listen to the options that the card issuer gives you over the phone. Choose the option that checks your card balance. When prompted, type your credit card number using your phone's keypad, then your PIN. If you do not know your PIN, you will be connected to an operator who will verify your information. Usually you will be asked for your social security number and the answers to a few security questions.

Choose to talk with a representative regarding the balance of your card. This option is given after you are told the balance of your card. Inform the operator that there should be an entry with "Microsoft" in the title for the amount you believe you were charged.

Create a username and password for your credit card account at the website listed on the back of your card if you do not want to check via phone. The registration process for online credit accounts usually takes less than 10 minutes. You will need your social security number and credit card. After registration, you can log-in to your account and check the previous charges.
