How to Make a Life-Like Moon to Print Out
Draw a realistic picture of the moon to print out and make copies or stickers. Drawing your own moon instead of using a photograph gives you more control over how large the moon image is, and you can add an outline around the moon to show you where it stops against the white paper. Using an actual photo as a reference will help you create a natural-looking drawing of the moon.

Trace around a flat, round form, like the bottom of a drinking glass, in the size you want your moon to be. This is the basic outline of the moon.

Add a small circle near the bottom edge of the larger circle for the crater. Look at a photo of the moon as a reference for how it should look and where it should be.

Shade in light lines extending from the crater, and continue shading in light pencil strokes over the entire moon. Curve the shaded strokes as you make your way up the moon to show that the surface is round, and leave small random spots that are not shaded.

Darken spots over the areas you already shaded to make them slightly darker. Refer to the photo of the moon to help you.

Shade the large, dark "sea" areas that make up the "face" we see on the moon with the side of the tip of the pencil. Apply the tip of the pencil at an angle to give you the softer, wider strokes that you need here. Look at the photo of the moon to see where to place them and how big to make them. Darken a few of the spots around the middle.

Rub the end of a shading tool, a tightly rolled strip of paper, gently on the lighter areas and around the edges of the darker areas to blend the pencil marks and make it look more natural.

Place the drawing face down in the tray of a scanner and close the top. Scan the image to your computer. Open the image on your computer, right-click on it and select "Print."
