How to Carve a Cross Out of a Stick
If you want to get rid of vampires, are religious or just simply want a cross, you can make one out of a stick. Depending on the size of the stick, carve a large or small cross. Crosses are one of the symbols of the Christian religious denominations. From the fifth century, the Greeks carved crosses into doors and other items in the church. Crosses are also a fashion symbol worn by people of different beliefs. Using a few simple items available at your local hardware store, you can carve a cross out of a stick.

1
Find a stick with a diameter of at least 2 inches. If the stick is too thin, it is difficult to carve a cross. Use a stick 2 inches in diameter, as an example.
-
2
Carve the stick into a rectangle using a utility or carving knife. Carve the rectangle to the dimensions of 3-by-2-by-1 inch.

3
Mark the shape of the cross with a marker and ruler. Draw a cross pattern on the wood. Make sure the base of the cross has equal measurements.
-
4
Start carving at the corners of the wood. Carve into the wood with rounded strokes. That makes a diagonal "U" from the corners. Continue until you reach the base of the cross. Carve vertically and horizontally to carve the edges of the cross.
-
5
Wear gloves, goggles and mask to prevent splinters or inhalation of sawdust. Sand all surfaces of the cross with sandpaper.
-
6
Paint the cross with wood stain using a paint brush. Let the wood stain dry for 12 hours.
