How To Send a Letter to the USA From England

How To Send a Letter to the USA From England thumbnail
International mail takes longer to deliver than domestic mail.

International mail delivery is almost as common as domestic mail delivery, and mailing a letter from England to the U.S. is no different than mailing a letter to any other country. The only difference between mailing a letter internationally and mailing one domestically is the time it takes to deliver the letter. The U.S. requires all mail entering the country to be scanned and checked for security clearance. Security measures add additional delays to mail delivery times.

Instructions

    • 1

Write the letter and place it in an envelope. Place the address of the recipient and your own return address on the front of the envelope.

    • 2

Take the letter to the nearest Royal Mail Post Office to purchase postage and to mail the letter. The cost of postage is determined by the method of delivery you choose - standard or faster methods are available - and the weight and size of the letter.

    • 3

Drop the letter off in any postbox, which are found at all Royal Mail Post Office locations as well as tens of thousands of other locations around the country. You can only drop your letter in a post box if you have already affixed the correct postage to the letter.
