How to Be Exempt From Impact Meetings in Indiana
Indiana IMPACT refers to the welfare-to-work reforms that those receiving government aid and assistance have to participate in. The program is meant to help those who can't get work by providing education, job training and necessary skills so those on welfare can get off it. However, there are groups that qualify for these benefits that do not have to participate in the training if they meet certain requirements listed in the rules of the program.

Read the section that describes your family participation and under what circumstances you are exempt from the meetings and training requirements of the program. For families where a parent must stay at home with a disabled child, there is an exemption. For those where the recipient is under 19 and pursuing education, there is an exemption. For those who are enrolled in job training or similar courses that meet program approval, there are exemptions. They're all listed in each section of the rules.

Contact your case manager and make that person aware of your situation. Point out the rules under which you are exempt and bring evidence of the status you claim. Fill out any necessary paperwork, and you are now exempt from the meeting requirements.
