How to Play the Sound Test Game

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Keys
  • Bells
  • Gardening Gloves
  • Rocks
  • Shoeboxes
  • Candies
  • Macaroni
  • Rice
  • Cotton Balls And Swabs
  • Silverware
  • Coins
  • Common Nails
  • Marbles
  • Coins
  • Rocks
  1. Step 1

    Choose several items that have a distinctive sound. Some ideas: a bell, a bag containing some rice, a rock, cotton, marbles, a bottle of pills, nails.

  2. Step 2

    Place one item or a group of the same items in a shoebox or cardboard box. Do this in another room or while the players are not watching.

  3. Step 3

    Choose one person to begin the game.

  4. Step 4

    Hand the player the box.

  5. Step 5

    Tell the player that he or she may shake the box, but may not open it or peek inside.

  6. Step 6

    Explain that the player must try to guess what is inside the box based on how it sounds. Players will also have a sense of how heavy the item is from holding the box.

  7. Step 7

    Pass the box to the next person if the item was not guessed correctly. Continue passing it until the item is guessed or everyone has had a try at guessing.

  8. Step 8

    Add a new item and continue passing the box.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make this game very hard by not allowing the players to hold the box at all. Have the leader shake the box.
