How to Get the Real Smiley Faces on Your Facebook Chat

Facebook Chat is equivalent to a Facebook instant-messaging service.

Facebook's Chat feature allows Facebook users to chat with other Facebook users who are online in their network. Included in the Facebook Chat feature is the ability to insert smiley faces or emoticons into your chat messages. If you want to insert a "real" smiley face into your Facebook Chat message -- i.e., one that appears in animated form rather than text form -- you can do so in a few steps.

Instructions

1. Click the "Chat" bar at the bottom of your Facebook Home page to bring up the list of Facebook users using Facebook Chat. Click the name of the Facebook user with which you want to chat to open a Facebook Chat window.

2. Open a new page in the computer's Web browser and navigate to the Facebook Smileys page (fbsmileys.com).

3. Type one of the smiley codes found on the Facebook Smileys page into the Facebook Chat window and press the "Enter" key to send the smiley to the other Facebook Chat user. For example, if you want to create a smiling face, type ":)" into the Facebook Chat window and press the "Enter" key. If you want to create the more obscure penguin smiley, type "<(")" into the Facebook Chat window and press the "Enter" key.
