How to Import SKP for Revit
SKP files are the native Google SketchUp format. Google SketchUp is a free computer modeling program used to create structural geometries and spatial visualizations. Revit is a parametric modeling application used by architects and engineers to easily create and modify buildings and their inherent parts. You can import SKP files into Revit component families, or RFAs, and then load the families into a Revit project, or RVT. The SKP model colors and textures may be lost when importing the file, but the SKP geometry will be accurately drawn in the Revit component family.

1
Open Revit and start a new component file. The components also are called families or component families.
-
2
Click the "Insert" tab on the "Import" panel and select "Import CAD."
-
-
3
Change "Files of Type" to "SKP" and browse to your Google SketchUp SKP file. Select the file and click "Open."
-
4
Move the SKP geometry to the desired location within the Revit component RFA file. Click "Save As" under the "File" menu and name your file. Click "Save."
-
5
Open the Revit project RVT file where you would like to place your Revit component with the SKP geometry.
-
6
Return to your Revit component with the SKP geometry. Select "Load into Project" in the menu ribbon and select the Revit project RVT file you just opened. Your SKP file is now imported into a Revit component file, which is loaded into a Revit project file.
