Instructions

    • 1

Place drop cloths under the window on the floor to catch any falling debris.

    • 2

Wet a scrub brush with mineral spirits, then scrub the window frame and ledges thoroughly. Continue to use mineral spirits and a scrub brush to clean off the flaking, peeling paint.

    • 3

Scrape away stubborn paint from the window ledges and frame with a paint scraper. Allow the old paint to fall onto the drop cloths.

    • 4

Place a vacuum with an extension hose under the window and vacuum up any loose paint flakes from the window ledges and frame.

    • 5

Sand the window ledges and frame using 60-grit sandpaper to remove any remaining paint from the window. Wipe the frame and ledges with a tack cloth once you have sanded all the old paint away.

    • 6

Adhere painter's tape around the inside of the window frame and outside the edges of the window ledges to protect the window pane and walls from wet, dripping paint.
